Four different Lockport Express players scored goals tonight against New York Aviators goaltender Stephen Mundinger. That's more goals he gave up in his previous three starts combined.

Joseph Como takes a shot in the first period. Aviators goaltender Stephen
Mundinger was strong in net, but let in four goals for the loss.
The home team went into tonight's game against the new-to-the-NA3EHL Aviators with no experience playing them before, the knowledge that they were undefeated, and that Mundinger was a tough nut to crack.

But crack him they did, eventually.

It was a Christopher Gasiewicz power play goal from Ryan Logar with just 2:01 left in regulation that put the Express on top for good. Prior to that, the game had been a little back and a little forth.

New York got on the board first at 2:14 of the first period when Robert Kalata scored from Daniel Backstrom and Sam Shaheen.

The Express came back to tie it at 1 on a Jordan Pocobello goal from Gibson Stuart 6:13 into the second. Stuart put the Express up 2-1, unassisted approximately 6:42 later. New York then tied it at 16:35 with a Jimmy Warrick goal from Backstrom and Shaheen. Ricky Regala put New York up at 18:29. Warrick and Backstrom assisted. Tying it again for the Express was Mark Friol just 23 seconds later.

The East Niagara Radio broadcast team of Howie Balaban, left, and Craig
Bacon, right, called the game live online at EastNiagaraRadio.com. In the
background, Mike Landers of Howell Motors Ford watches the game.
The third period had 73 minutes worth of penalties — most of them to the Express. But when it mattered most, Lockport had a man advantage. And Gasiewicz took advantage with an assist by Ryan Logar.

The Express are back in action Saturday night when they face the undefeated Jersey Shore Wildcats at Cornerstone CFCU Arena. The Aviators, meanwhile, head to Rochester to play the Roc City Royals.

Face off Saturday is slated for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on EastNiagaraRadio.com.
