Lockport Police originally responded to a report of a domestic incident at 124 Spaulding St. around 2:33 p.m. When they arrived, they found that the suspect had broken the window out of the victim’s vehicle, who told them that her boyfriend was inside and there was a handgun inside the house.
Patrol secured a perimeter around the residence but could not get the suspect, 30-year-old Gary W. Gronemeyer of 124 Spaulding St. to come out of the residence.
A negotiator was requested to the scene, as was Niagara County ERT. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police also assisted LPD.
After hours of negotiating with Gronemeyer, he exited the residence unarmed and was immediately taken into custody, according to LPD. He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal possession of a firearm.
Gronemeyer is slated to be arraigned in Lockport City Court on Wednesday.
Police from several local agencies assemble while a negotiator attempts to get the suspect to surrender. |
