RAPIDS — The annual train ride fundraiser at Mud Creek will be held from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 7349 Tonawanda Creek Road.

The Mud Creek Railroad is a non-profit, educational 7 1/4-inch gauge & 4 3/4-inch gauge model railroad club dedicated to providing a track for the skilled craftspeople that bring history to life through the construction and operation of hand built locomotives and rolling stock modeled after prototype railroads.

Rides on the train's 1000-foot track are $5 for those ages 6 and up, while kids age 1-5 ride free with a paying adult. Those under the age of 1 are welcome to visit but will not be permitted on the train. The extensive train ride goes over bridges and under tunnels on the 27-acre site.

Mud Creek relies on memberships and donations in order to operate. Memberships are available for $75 per year, which entitles the paying member to receive the monthly newsletter by mail and be invited to all of the organizations private events.

The site is proud to show off its new station platform, made possible from previous donations.

There will be hot dogs, snacks and refreshments available at the event, as well as a basket raffle to help raise more money for future improvements and maintenance.
