BUFFALO – State Sen. Rob Ortt will announce legislation that he is introducing and sponsoring that he says would make National Guard recruiting centers and ROTC units safer across the state.
The new bill will be announced at 2:45 p.m. Friday at Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park, follows the shooting death of five service members in Chattanooga, Tenn. after a gunman opened fire at two different military facilities within miles apart of each other.
Ortt’s bill would establish a 13-member group of experts to examine New York State National Guard recruiting centers and ROTC units and form recommendations to improve their security and protection systems.
