Mr. Lockport Demetrius Grant dumps water on Brandy Martucci during a water balloon fight at Altro Park.

Wednesday's rain stayed mostly away, but participants in the city's Sesquicentennial Celebration found a way to get wet anyway.

Dozens of kids showed up at Altro Park looking for a fight — a water balloon fight, that is. They weren't disappointed. The school-aged kids threw about 700 water balloons at one another in a matter of minutes.

Mr. and Miss Lockport, Demetrius Grant and Lea Sobieraski joined in on the fun, as well.

The event was so well enjoyed, that the Sesquicentennial Celebration Committee is planning to have another water balloon fight Saturday during the Family Fun Day at Outwater Park.

Also Wednesday, the Union-Sun & Journal beat Team City in a round of lawn games, which included ladders, ring toss, bocce ball, a bean bag toss and a newspaper toss.
