ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
A 21-year-old Lockport man was charged with half a dozen crimes early this morning following an incident on Weld Street.
According to Lockport Police, patrol was called to Weld Street because Devanti A. Sparks, 13 Weld St., was “out of control” and was assaulting a woman in the side yard of his home.
When patrol arrived, Sparks fled into the home then jumped out a rear window and fled on foot with LPD in pursuit. Patrol set up a perimeter and eventually caught Sparks and placed him in the rear of a patrol car.
“While in the rear of car 25, Sparks did attempt to break the window by slamming his head against it,” the report states. “Pepper spray was deployed.”
In the end, Sparks was charged with second-degree obstruction of governmenal administration, second-degree harassment, second-degree criminal contempt, fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree trespassing, and resisting arrest. He is slated for City Court on Monday.
