ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com

The abundance of police activity in the city Tuesday night and early this morning was in regards to "a very premature baby," according to LPD.

Police had confirmed earlier in the evening that they were involved in a "rescue call" but declined to give details into the then-ongoing operation.

Residents had noted numerous police cars and an ambulance traveling at high rates of speed around 10:20 p.m. and another pair of police cars shortly thereafter.

Police set up road blocks between Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport and the Erie County line along the Transit corridor, in an effort to get the infant to an undisclosed hospital. The motorcade left ENH around 12:24 a.m. and arrived at the Buffalo-area hospital just before 1 a.m.

According to the police, "no foul play was involved" in the incident.
