A second corrections officer has been charged with helping Clinton Correction Facility inmates Richard Matt and David sweat escape from the prison on June 7.
Gene Palmer, 57, of Dannemora, was charged today with first-degree promoting prison contraband, official misconduct, and two counts of tampering with physical evidence.
Palmer had been placed on leave on Friday as part of the investigation.
Palmer pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and was remanded to the Clinton County Jail on $25,000 bail.
On June 13, Joyce Mitchell, 51, of Dickinson Center, was charged with providing material assistance to the escaped convicts.
The pair remain at large.
