Josephine P. DeFabbio passed away June 23, 2015 in Briody Health Care Facility.
Born in Holley, NY on July 3, 1918 to Filomeno and Mary Petroline. She married Gabriel A. DeFabbio who predeceased her in 1978. Josephine was a registered nurse graduating from the Buffalo Deaconess Hospital and worked in area hospitals. Through the 1940’s she worked in the newborn nursery at Lockport Memorial Hospital and still referred to a great many as “her babies,” many whom are now grandparents. She volunteered for various causes, was a member of St. Mary’s Church where she belonged to the Ladies of Charity, Bishop’s Committee and the Mother’s Club. Josephine enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading, and doing crafts and was devoted to her family.
Josephine is survived by her children Ann (Robert) Kilroy of Olcott, Ellen (Jeff) Eglin of Lockport and the late Thomas G. DeFabbio; grandmother of Jamie (David) Lewis, Christopher Eglin, Corina and Allison DeFabbio; great grandmother of Gabriel and Claire Lewis; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Josephine was also predeceased by her brother and three sisters.
There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 29th at 10 AM in All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Memorial donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
