ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Three teenagers were charged early this morning after they were found in a stolen vehicle.
According to NCSO, a woman had reported her vehicle stolen to the Lockport Police Department on Tuesday. Then around 2 a.m., she called NCSO to tell them she was following the vehicle on South Transit Road.
Patrols were dispatched to the area of Robinson and South Transit roads. When a Sheriff's Office patrol attempted to stop the vehicle on Glendale Drive, the vehicle pulled to the side of the road and four occupants fled the scene.
A 13-year-old juvenile male was located by responding patrol units and a search continued for the remaining suspects. Eventually, two additional suspects, a 13-year-old female and a 19-year-old male from the City of Buffalo were located in the City of Lockport. The juveniles were released to their parents on appearance tickets to appear at the Lockport Probation Department on a charge of third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The 19-year-old male, Daryl A. Smith from Buffalo was charged with two count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was placed in the Niagara County Jail on $500.
The fourth suspect has been identified and an arrest warrant will be sought for her arrest.
