ENP STAFF REPORTS

Trek Inc., a Lockport-based designer and manufacturer of high-voltage power amplifiers and high-performance electrostatic measurement instruments utilized in demanding applications in industry and research, was recently recognized as a winner of Interactive Health’s “Healthiest Companies in America” award.
Interactive Health – a leading provider of health management solutions and wellness programs – selected Trek and 157 other companies from across the country for this year’s award based on their achieving a low health risk status in their organization while sustaining high employee participation in their wellness program.
According to Cathy Kenworthy, President and CEO of Interactive Health, “Healthiest Companies in America winners exemplify the long-term positive effects comprehensive wellness programs can have on the health status of large populations.”
“It is an honor to be included in the Healthiest Companies list since it reflects Trek’s commitment to the overall health and well-being of its employees,” said Michael Dehn, President of Trek Inc. “Interactive’s wellness program encourages our employees to pursue healthy lifestyles and smart choices both inside and outside the workplace. We especially like the program’s ability to provide early detection and identification of health risk factors so that employees can take action sooner than later.”
Interactive Health's workplace wellness program combines a thorough health evaluation with fast results, supported by a wide range of technology tools and prompt outreach by health coaches.
Trek augments their Interactive Health wellness program with additional internal programs, training sessions and support to encourage health and safety in the workplace. The company has an exercise room and requires employees to be trained before using the equipment (lateral cross trainer, recumbent bicycle, treadmill and universal weight machine). Lunchtime walks, use of stairs and sharing of healthy recipes are encouraged, and all of Trek’s Lockport facilities are non-smoking.
Safety and workplace training is another component of Trek’s programs. Training covers ergonomics, lifting, forklifts, ladders, fire extinguishers, lockout/tagout and evacuation procedures.
