NEW YORK CITY — A website geared towards political news important to the Jewish community is reporting that freshman state Sen. Rob Ortt, R-North Tonawanda, referred to former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver as part of “the Jewish mafia,” during a closed-door meeting in Albany earlier this week.
JPUpdates.com states that it was tipped off from another Republican lawmaker after Ortt made the remarks against the Orthodox Jewish Democratic lawmaker during a GOP conference held Monday night.
An email seeking comment from Ortt was not immediately returned.
