ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Transit Drive-In owner Rick Cohen is going on another trip — this time for the season opening of the Auto-Vue Drive-In in Sidney, Ohio.
Cohen walked over 250 miles from Kissimmee, Fla. to Ridgeland, S.C. in February in a planned effort to walk all the way to Camden, N.J. to raise money to help the Auto-Vue raise funds to purchase a digital project.
Unfortunately, a sprained ankle cut Cohen's walk short. But it didn't end his goal of getting the Auto-Vue open for the season — with a new digital projector. And thanks in part to money he raised during that walk, they will.
Cohen said the drive-in had to borrow a lot of money to buy the projector, but because of his walk, they had to borrow less than they would have. "I was able contribute close to $8,000 after the gofundme fees came out," he said.
"I give them a lot of credit for having teh courage to move forward," he said. "They're taking on a big debt in order to stay open ... and there are other drive-in theaters that just made the decision to close and to not do digital."
"Hopefully the people will appreciate it and support the theater," he said.
