First-Ward Alderman John Lombardi has decided to run for the position of Lockport treasurer instead of seeking re-election to the Common Council.
The long-time alderman had been considering the jump for some time, but made his intentions public this evening. Now in his 10th year on the Council, Lombardi said he will abstain from any votes that pertain to the proposed changes to the position of treasurer. The Council is slated to cut the position's salary nearly in half next week to $50,000 — from $80,000, while simultaneously reducing the duties of the position.
Lombardi is a registered Republican.
