ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Are you "the face of Lockport?" You might be.
Lockport's Sesquicentennial Committee, which is holding a nine-day-long birthday party for the city from June 27 - July 5, is looking for a Mr. and Miss Lockport to celebrate the festivities.
Mr. and Miss Lockport will be on hand at major city events to act as the grand marshall's of the Independence Day Parade, kick off a planned 5K race, judge food at the Taste of Lockport, and more during the 150 events that are planned during the nine-day celebration. Their names will be included in official advertisements and prizes will be given to both winners — along with special access to all of the official sesquicentennial events.
If you think this sounds like fun (it will be), send a selfie and a paragraph of what makes you Mr. or Miss Lockport to lockport150@gmail.com by May 22. Eligible submissions will be voted on by the general public on the Lockport 150 Facebook page. To be eligible, Mr. and Miss Lockport must be a current Lockport resident between the age of 21 and 29.
The committee is also looking to reward school spirit. All Lockport schools are invited to make a video showing their school spirit — a song, a dance, a skit, whatever — with the winning school receiving a gift certificate for school supplies. Videos must clearly show the school and its students. Teachers and administrators are welcome to take part, as well.
