ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — DeSales Catholic School is seeking applicants for its Board of Trustees. This group of volunteers oversees the management and administration of eastern Niagara's only Catholic school, in accordance with the school's mission to be a learning community dedicated to providing an exceptional Catholic educational environment for all children.
Board President Mrs. Kimberly Glena states "the DeSales Board of Trustees is a working board, comprised of local community members with diverse talents, skills, and gifts, who possess a demonstrated interest and committed spirit for furthering DeSales' philosophy and mission." The school’s Canonical Administrator, Rev. Josef Dudzik, serves on the Board in an ex-officio capacity, along with Trustees who are appointed to serve a three year term. The Board of Trustees meets on the third Wednesday of each month throughout the school year.
Individuals interested in becoming a Trustee are asked to complete an application, found at desalescatholicschool.org and also available in the school's Main office any school day. Completed applications may be e-mailed to Dr. Scott Fike, DeSales Principal, at fikes@desalescatholicschool.org or mailed to his attention at 6914 Chestnut Ridge Road, Lockport NY 14094. June 3 is the deadline to submit applications for consideration for the 2015-2016 school year.
The majority of the Board’s work is performed within a Standing Committee structure, with each committee chaired by a Trustee. However, Committee membership is open to anyone interested in working to support the school — including DeSales parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, and community members. Anyone interested in volunteering their time and talents to a board committee is asked to call the school at 433-6422 to learn more.
