All children ages 2-12 years old are invited to Day Road Park from 6 - 8 p.m. June 1 to participate in The Barge Canal Optimist Club bicycle safety rodeo.
Children should bring their bike and helmet. Once they are registered for the safety program they will be challenged to prove their riding ability and maneuvering skills at six different safety activities.
All children participating will be treated to a Barge Canal Optimist Sno Cone once they have completed the safety course. All participants will have the opportunity to win a new bicycle of their choice.
Registration for participation in the safety program will be accepted from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Prizes for high score in each age group and the winners of new bikes will be announced at 8:00pm. Winners must be present at the drawing.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Department will also be available throughout the event to complete car seat safety checks. Proper installation of all car seats will be reviewed and any unsafe or expired car seats may be replaced. All families with children are encouraged to have their seats checked.
Bicycle Safety program is sponsored by Barge Canal Optimist Club and The Town of Lockport Recreation Committee. All children are welcome to participate. Rain date is set for Monday, June 15.
