TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 79-year-old Lockport woman reported that someone stole the wallet from her purse while she was shopping at Tops on South Transit Road around 3:20 p.m.
According to the report filed with the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, the woman "reported to patrol that she had her purse in the shopping cart and was looking at bacon, when she came back to her cart, she noticed her wallet to be missing."
The woman said that $200 cash, a First Niagara debit card and miscellaneous wallet items were stolen.
Store management did locate camera footage showing the larceny. An unknown black male suspect was depicted in the footage taking the wallet and then exiting the store. The male was dressed in all black and appeared to be approx 5'9 and heavier set. Camera footage showed the suspect drop a basket of grocery items before exiting the store. Said items were secured and sent for latent print examination.
The woman was advised by patrol to contact her bank and notify them to cancel her debit card and checks.
