East Niagara Post News Editor Scott Leffler took a pie to face Tuesday afternoon — in the name of charity.

Family Video on East Avenue raised money as part of the movie store chain's annual "Round It Up for Lymphoma" campaign. Aside from asking the store's customers to round of their change to the nearest dollar for the cause, the store also held basket raffles and sold raffle tickets for customers to put into containers with store employees' photos on them. The container with the most tickets at the end of the two-week campaign would get a pie to the face. In the end, that was Leffler's container.

One lucky customer was chosen from the more than 30 tickets placed into Leffler's container to "do the honors" of hitting Leffler with the whipped cream pie. The pie-ing took place in front of a small crowd at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The store — one of 800 in the chain — raised over $2,000, while the company as a whole raised nearly $1.3 million, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Lymphoma Research Foundation and the University of Chicago Medicine.

There's more photos from Tuesday's "pie-ing" here (link).
