Fans of live music in the Lock City lost one of their most respected and talented performers Monday when Darnell Crenshaw died suddenly.

The 49-year-old musician and owner of Tone Doctors music shop will be remembered tonight at an impromptu fundraiser at 21st Amendment, where he commanded a weekly "open mic night" for the past four years.

Jon George, owner of the Locust Street bar said the establishment will donate a portion of tonight's proceeds to the continued operation of the music shop, as well as collect donations in jars and through a 50/50 split.

The fundraiser will take place from 9 p.m. until the bar closes at 2 a.m. with a special open mic from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. in Crenshaw's honor.

Calling hours for Crenshaw will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Taylor & Reynolds Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at Latter Rain Cathedral, where a service will be held at noon.
