ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
MIDDLEPORT — A Johnson Creek Road man told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies on Tuesday that he received an odd piece of mail from the IRS asking him for more information about his recent tax filing — except he hadn't filed his taxes yet.
The man said he attempted to correct the matter with the IRS, who told him he would have to file a police report in order to be able to file his taxes.
Several instances were reported last year of Niagara County residents who attempted to file their taxes with the IRS only to learn that someone else had filed them in their name already and cashed the refund check.
