On the heels of a fundraiser Wednesday night at a downtown bar, another Lockport bar is paying special tribute tonight to Lockport musician and business owner Darnell Crenshaw, who died Monday.
Pleasant Valley Tavern Manager Simon Chavers says the bar will donate a portion of tonight's proceeds and have buckets available for patrons to make donations in Crenshaw's honor. The bar will host "The Commie Hunters" tonight beginning at 10 p.m.
Crenshaw's band, "No Mustang Sally" played regularly at the PVT. So much so, in fact, that Chavers referred to them as "the house band."
"No mustang Sally was the first band I've had down there since I've worked there," Chavers said. "And they've been there almost every month since the first time. ... And it didn't matter if 6 people were there or 200 they always played with the same energy."
Additionally, Chavers said Crenshaw had given his son Cameron music lessons for the past six years
Wednesday night, the 21st Amendment held a similar fundraiser. Crenshaw had hosted the bar's "open mic" nights for several years.
Crenshaw's viewing hours at Taylor & Reynolds Funeral Home are from 4-8 p.m. An additional showing will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at Latter Rain Cathedral, where the funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m.
