ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
ROYALTON — A Hartland Road woman told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies that fraudulent checks were being sent to her.
The woman told patrol that she had signed up for an online shopping program that paid her to shop for certain items. She said she went to the bank to deposit two checks totaling $5,797, but the bank said they were not legitimate.
The woman further told patrol that she has received emails saying that if she used the money for her own purposes, the authorities would be notified.
NCSO told the woman to keep a record of the emails and checks that were received and that a report would be on file.
