Leo A. Kowalski, age 84, of Lockport passed away peacefully at home on Thursday February 12, 2015. He leaves behind Faith, his beloved wife of 60 years, and his four children: Brenda (Steve) Morley, Karl (Tina) Kowalski, Kathy (Mike) Shepard, and Becky Gow (Steve Schie). Also 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In partnership with his wife, Faith, Leo’s life’s work was dairy farming. He was an innovative “Maverick” in his approach to farming, and believed in being a good steward of the land by utilizing organic practices. He developed a beautiful herd of Holstein and Guernsey cattle. He was a well-respected, hard worker, who shared his passion for farming with all who were interested.
Leo was a Navy veteran and enjoyed singing in his younger years. Leo was very loving towards his children and their families, and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 at Living Water Church, 2569 Main Street Newfane, NY 14108. A meal will follow the service. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to American Farmland Trust at info@farmland.org or 1-800-431-1499.
