A skills program used and endorsed by Connor McDavid, widely believed to be the number one draft pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, is coming to the Cornerstone CFCU Ice Arena, arena officials announced this morning.

The one-hour sessions run every Monday from Feb. 16th through April 27 for the first 20 skaters who sign up for each session.

McDavid, who was granted exceptional player status by Hockey Canada allowing him to enter the OHL at age 15, has been training since he was 10 on what was once only taught at a private academy in Canada.

Lockport-area skaters will receive both an on-ice demonstration and off-ice video training and commentary during each session.

Joe Quinn, Founder of Power Edge Pro (PEP), said the McDavid Skills Series and the McDavid Dangler are part of a developmental blueprint designed for hockey players to follow as they work to continually improve their individual on-ice skill development.

The McDavid Skills Series includes exclusive training footage of Connor (aged 10 to 17 years old) demonstrating and providing voice over comments on a variety of the unique PEP skill training circuits.

“Power Edge Pro is something I truly believe in,” according to McDavid. “I started training with Coach Joe when I was 10 and the years of the PEP Training Circuits and unique repetitions have been a major advantage for me. To watch PEP evolve and see where it is today is amazing. It’s truly the best trainer out there.”

The one-hour sessions will take place at 7:30 p.m. each week and will cost players $30 per session, with the exception of goaltenders who can attend for free. Players ages 6-14 may sign up for one, multiple or all sessions by sending an email to Jim Ward at coachjimpep@yahoo.com.
