TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Store security at the new Super Walmart has been busy since its grand opening last week as Niagara County Sheriff's deputies made three more arrests Sunday and Monday.

Monday afternoon, a couple is alleged to have stolen more than $200 worth of merchandise from the store, including perfume, cologne, and clothing.

According to the Sheriff's Office report, a male and a female were seen exiting the store without paying for merchandise. The female, Ana M. Mistretta, 28, 77 Main St., Apt. 408, was apprehended without incident. However, the male fled the store.

Mistretta was found to have $48 worth of perfume on her, according to the arrest report. She was taken to Niagara County Jail and held on $500 bail. She is scheduled to appear in Town of Lockport Court on Thursday.

The male, later identified as Mark D. Clemons, 32, also of 77 Main St., Apt. 408, was found by deputies in the store parking lot, having shed "his outer clothing in an apparent attempt to avoid detection."

Clemons said he knew why he was being questioned and said that he was in the store with his girlfriend, Mistretta.

Patrol and other NCSO units located Clemons' clothing that he had taken off in the lot and also located a single package of "Eternity - For Men" cologne, just feet away from where he had been initially found/detained.

Clemons said to patrol: "Yo dude, I always wear cologne, I always smell good."

The report says "patrol could detect the overwhelming odor of cologne emitting from Clemons even outside while speaking with him."

"Clemons stated that he did not remember taking the amount of items listed by store security, but did admit to the cologne theft, again stating that he liked to smell good," the report said.

He was charged with petit larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy and taken to Niagara County Jail where he was held on $500 bail. He is ordered to appear in Town of Lockport Court on Thursday.

Clemons' vehicle was parked in a Fire/No Parking Zone and was towed from the scene.

A day earlier, Dana L. Smith, 20, 12311 Big Tree Road, Wales Center, was charged with stealing approximately $48 in nail polish from the store.

According to NCSO, Smith was seen concealing nail polish products in her purse and then leaving the store around 3:17 p.m. Sunday. She was taken to Niagara County Jail and held on $250 bail. She is scheduled to appear in Town of Lockport Court on Thursday.
