BUFFALO — The Florida Panthers scored two goals in the first period of tonight's game against the Buffalo Sabres at First Niagara Center, enough to beat the home team.
Brad Boyes tallied the first goal at 3:29 on a backhand shot past Sabres' goaltender Michal Neuvirth. Aleksander Barkov and Sean Bergenheim were awarded the assists. Nick Bjugstad got the Panthers other goal at 11:51 on the power play, assisted by Jimmy Hayes and Aaron Ekblad.
The Sabres are now 14-22-3. They have lost three straight and seven of their past eight. They next play the Rangers in New York on Saturday.
