The Buffalo Sabres lost 4-1 to the New Jersey Devils Tuesday night after a three-goal first period by the Devils.
Patrik Elias opened up the scoring for New Jersey at 3:44 of the first period, assisted by Mike Cammalleri and Adam Larsson. Jordin Tootoo made it 2-0 at 9:49 with help from Marek Zidlicky and Cory Schneider. At 14:39, Travis Zajac scored a short-handed goal for the Devils, assisted by Patrik Elias and Mark Fraser.
Mikhail Grigorenko got the Sabres on the scoreboard at 6:40 of the second period with a power play goal assisted by Chris Stewart.
The Devils closed out the scoring at 16:56 of the third period with an empty netter by Cammalleri. Zajac and Elias got the assists.
