NEWFANE — A 77-year-old Newfane man was killed this morning in a vehicle/pedestrian accident in the 3000 block of Coomer Road.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff's deputies along with members of Miller Hose Fire Company responded to the scene and located a male lying in a ditch on the west side of the road. The male, Ralph G. Miller, was deceased.
Further investigation revealed that a pickup truck was south bound on Coomer Road and struck the Miller who had been crossing the roadway to retrieve his morning newspaper from his mailbox.
No charges have been filed at this time. However, the investigation is continuing by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Unit.
