A K9 unit was called in to track the thief, but the dog lost the scent in the
area of Main and Pine streets.
Lockport Police and members of the Niagara County Sheriff's Office cast a net late Saturday night and early this morning looking for a man who robbed the Sunoco station at 100 South Transit Street.

A representative for the police department said it's a nearly identical situation to the robbery that occurred there Monday night when someone robbed the station at knifepoint then eluded a manhunt by LPD and the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

Police say security footage shows a man arrive at the store with a knife around 11:30 p.m. and demand cash. Police have not offered a description of the assailant.

LPD requested a K9 team to track the robber. The K9 unit followed a track but lost it around Main and Pine streets shortly after 2 a.m.

We'll bring you more details when we get them.

NOTE: Story updated at 1:28 a.m. and 2:21 a.m. to include additional details. Story updated again and photos added at 3:27 a.m.

The K9 unit lingered at Main and Pine streets for several minutes before doubling back.
