ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Niagara County Sheriff Jim Voutour issued a statement this evening, in order to make the public aware of ongoing daylight burglaries that have been occurring in the northeast and northwest areas of Niagara County.
According to NCSO, there have been 18 daylight burglaries, which began in mid-September of this year.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to remain observant and report any suspicious persons, vehicles or activity. Individuals may first go to a home and ask for arbitrary information, such as if a person lives there or for directions.
Voutour's statement says "it is important to remember that in this day and age of technology it is odd for someone to not know if they are at the right house or to not have access to directions.
The Sheriff’s Office would ask that if anyone encounters individuals coming to their door asking for information, presenting themselves as a business person that was not solicited, or if they observe unfamiliar vehicles in a driveway or in an area for an extended period of time, please contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately with description of person(s), vehicles, plate number, direction of travel, or whatever other information can be obtained. This timely reporting of information can prove to be invaluable in the investigative process.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office can be reached 24 hours a day at 438-3393.
