A pair of Lockport men stand accused of accepting unemployment payments illegally.
Robert D. Bentley, 56, was charged Friday and James P. Doxey, 34 was charged Sunday with third-degree grand larceny, first-degree offering to file a false instrument, and first-degree falsifying business records.
According to police records, New York State Department of Labor investigations revealed between Feb. 1, 2011 and Nov. 11, 2012, Bentley fraudulently obtained over $4,300 in unemployment benefits while he was gainfully employed at Lock City Pizza. The same records state that between March 2 and August 24 Doxey fraudulently obtained over $4,800 in unemployment benefits while he was gainfully employed at Brigham Concrete Construction.
Bentley and Doxey were arrested and processed at SP Lockport and released with appearance tickets. Bentley is scheduled to appear on Jan. 7 and Doxey on Monday to the City of Lockport Court.
