ROYALTON — Akron Road was the scene of an early morning fatal accident, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were dispatched to the 8500 block of Akron Road around 1:26 a.m. for a single-vehicle accident. When they arrived at the scene, they found an SUV on top of a guard rail.
The sole occupant of the vehicle was deceased at the scene. Coroner Ken Lederhouse responded to the scene and moved the victim to ECMC. The name of the driver is not being released at this time, pending the notification being made to his family.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene and the cause of the accident is under investigation. Also assisting at the scene were the New York State Police, Wolcottsville and Rapids volunteer fire companies.
