ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
GASPORT — A State Street woman awoke Wednesday afternoon to what she thought was her son leaving. Then she realized it wasn't.
Middleport police, along with the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, scoured the area after the woman called in a complaint that a man in a dark hooded sweatshirt had been in her apartment.
Patrol pulled over a black pickup truck on Rochester Road, believing that the driver may have been the culprit because the truck was seen leaving the area around the time the man in the dark hooded sweatshirt fled. However, the driver said he had been having lunch The Canalside Inn — and patrons of the restaurant corroborated his story.
Police continued the investigation using video surveillance, footprints that were found, and witness statements. To date, however, the suspect remains unknown.
