YOUNGSTOWN — A pair of men with French accents pulled a knife on a boat captain after picking up a charter in Queenston, Ontario, forcing the captain to bring the men to the shores of Fort Niagara.

A press release from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office says NCSO is investigating the matter with assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security Investigative Division, New York State Park Police and the Niagara Regional Police.

According to NCSO, a 16-foot charter vessel picked the pair up at about 11:30 a.m. in Queenston under the pretense of a fishing trip on Lake Ontario. After being on the water for approximately two hours, the charter boat captain was ordered at knifepoint to take them to shore in the United States. The men were then taken to shore just east of Fort Niagara where they fled the scene on foot.

The men were described as in their mid 20s with one being 6-feet tall and 175 pounds wearing a blue coat and a white Eskimo hat. The other male was described as 5-feet, 11-inches tall and 200 pounds wearing a black sweater, black track pants and white Nike sneakers. Both men were described as having French accents.

Anyone with information regarding the incident can call the Niagara County Sheriff's Office dispatch at 438-3394 or the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 438-3327.
