NEWFANE — A Lockport-Olcott Road homeowner told the Niagara County Sheriff's Office that he believes a wood stove started a Friday afternoon blaze in an empty house he owns next to his residence.
The man told patrol that an unknown person knocked on his door Friday afternoon and advised him of the fire. He said he then walked over to the empty home, which he was in the process of rehabbing, to let in fire personnel from Miller Hose.
The homeowner had last been in the vacant house earlier the same day.
The damage estimate is unknown and there were no injuries from the fire. Investigation to continue by Niagara County Origin and Cause.
