OLCOTT — A 19-year-old Wilson man was charged around 8:30 p.m. Friday with marijuana possession by Niagara County Sheriff's deputies.

According to the arrest report, Thomas J. Jacob, 3894 West Lake Road, Wilson, was seen parked in a vehicle overlooking Lake Ontario. When patrol approached the vehicle, they saw him reach underneath the seat. They could also smell a strong odor of marijuana.

When they asked Jacob about the marijuana smell, Jacob said he was smoking pot in the car. Patrol found a pipe used to smoke marijuana under the seat of the vehicle, as well as a small clear plastic bag containing a white powder substance above the driver side visor, which Jacob said was "fake cocaine and his friend gave it to him to rip someone off," the report says.

Patrol took Jacob to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, where it field tested the white powder substance, which tested negative for the presence of cocaine. Patrol then transported Jacob to the jail, where he was held in lieu of $250 bail until his court appearance in the Town of Newfane on Tuesday.
