ST. LOUIS — The Buffalo Sabres had a real case of the Blues following a 6-1 loss in St. Louis tonight.
Jori Lehtera started the scoring for St. Louis with a slapshot at 17:08 of the first period, assisted by Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz.
Lehtera made it 2-0 Blues at 3:21 of the second with a wrist shot, again assisted by Tarasenko and Schwartz. Then at 14:26, Lehtera earned the natural hat trick on a short handed goal, assisted by Schwartz and Barret Jackman.
Just 59 seconds into the third, Tyler Ennis got the Sabres on the board with a power play goal, assisted by Matt Moulson and Drew Stafford. After 15 minutes of no scoring, the Blues turned on the afterburners thanks to a 10-minute major by Nicolas Deslauriers served by Cody Hodgson at 14:18. David Backes score the first power play goal at 16:38 with help from Kevin Shattenkirk and Alexander Steen, followed a minute later by a second power play goal, this time by Joakim Lindstrom, assisted by Steen and Magnus Paajarvi. Lindstrom scored a third goal on the major penalty at 18:37 with help from Steen and Kevin Shattenkirk.
The Sabres next play in Minnesota on Thursday.
