news@eastniagarapost.com
Personal differences of estranged spouses found them both being charged with criminal activity against the other.
According to an LPD report, Jacqueline P. Stewart, 33, 143 Prospect St., right apartment, was charged around 10:55 p.m. Monday with petit larceny. According to the arrest report, while at the Park Avenue 7-Eleven, Stewart asked her estranged husband for money. When he refused, she took his cell phone and threw it in the bushes.
While Michael M. Stewart, 31, 461 North Adam St., was searching for his phone, his estranged wife took the keys to his girlfriend’s car and left the area, according to LPD. Mrs. Stewart was found at a High Street home and charged.
Mr. Stewart, meanwhile, was charged around 7:05 a.m. Tuesday with third-degree robbery, second-degree burglary and second-degree obstruction of government administration. According to the police, he broke into Ms. Stewart’s home and stole her cell phone Tuesday morning.
“He said that when he gets the keys back, he will give her the phone back,” the report said. He then ran out of the apartment. LPD caught up with him in the area of West Avenue and South Bristol Street, where he was arrested.
Michael Stewart was to be in City Court on Tuesday, while Jacqueline Stewart was to be in court this morning.
