ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for Niagara, Orleans Erie, Genesee and Wyoming counties through noon today.
Ice accumulation of a few hundredths of an inch are expected during pockets of light freezing rain, creating a coating of ice on unrelated surfaces and resulting in very slippery conditions.
A freezing rain advisory is issued when icing is expected in the affected areas, but not enough to disrupt travel or damage trees or power lines. Instead, patched of ice will cause slick spots on roadways and sidewalks, making walking and driving difficult if not impossible.
