BARKER — A 23-year-old Quaker Road man was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana following a one-car crash early Saturday morning.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office report, Benjamin J. Taylor, 1710 Quaker Road, had to be extricated from his vehicle, which had crashed into a tree on the east side of Hartland Road. Patrol observed heavy front end damage to the driver's side of the vehicle which caused the vehicle's firewall to enclose around his legs.
He was rushed into the back of an Olcott Volunteer Fire Company Ambulance and was transported to Erie County Medical Center while patrol followed. At the hospital, he was charged with DWI, moving from a lane unsafely, failure to keep right and unlawful possession of marijuana.
At the scene, a firefighter handed patrol a pink smoking pipe containing a "burnt green vegetable matter," that was found while EMT's were searching in a bag for the passenger's identification. Patrol spoke to Jamie Lyn Forsyth, the passenger of the vehicle, while she was receiving treatment for injuries to her legs. She said that Taylor had been driving the car south on Hartland Road when he drove into a tree on the opposite side of the road. She also told patrol that the pipe was hers.
Forsyth was also transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where she was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
The pair are scheduled to appear in Town of Somerset Court on Thursday.

Burnt Green Vegetable matter??? Really?
ReplyDeleteWell if he wasnt drunk and she wasnt high they would both be dead now. Sad,so young yet so stupid.
ReplyDeleteCharlie if he wasn't intoxicated he most likely would not of hit the tree in the first place. Hopefully they will make better choices in the future.
ReplyDeleteApparently Lighthouse and Charlie are absolute experts. Have you ever heard of people falling asleep at the wheel because they were sleepy?? Happens every day. Are you saying everyone who falls asleep at the wheel is drunk or on drugs? Sure hope you never fall asleep at the wheel and then see people posting your kinds of expertise online. Also, not all statements in these kinds of articles are true. Why not talk to the two in the vehicle before making judgements and assumptions.
