Cynthia Cotten will hold a book signing
at the Lockside Art Center on Monday.
(ENP FILE ART)
Lockport native and author of children's books Cynthia Cotten will conduct a book signing from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Lockside Art Center. She is the first author featured in the center's Meet the Artist/Author series, and will talk with visitors about her writing experiences.

An author of fiction and poetry for young readers, Cynthia has published nine books of her own, many with classroom teaching guides, and has poetry included in numerous collections. She visits schools to read aloud and talk about her books with students.

In addition to serving as presenter/critiquer at conferences, she has taught writing classes for children and coached several beginning writers. She has twice served as a judge for the Society of Children’s Bookwriters and Illustrators Golden Kite award, and is a member of the Society of Children's Bookwriters and Illustrators, the Author's Guild, and the Children's Book Guild of Washington, DC.

Her most recent book is Window Across Time. Spanning almost two centuries, it consists of eight stories linked together by a cobblestone house in a fictional small town on the Erie Canal. Through the eyes of the young people who live there over the years, readers get a look inside (or a window to) both large and small moments in the history of the house, Western New York, and the United States.

Signed copies of the book - and others authored by Cotten - will be available for purchase.

Lockside Art Center is located at 21-41 Main Street at Pine, Suite 208, in downtown Lockport. The center is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. and by appointment. For more information, email locksideart@cs.com or call 478-0239.
