WASHINGTON, DC — The Buffalo Sabres dropped their pre-season opener to the Washington Capitals this afternoon, 1-0.
Despite outshooting the Capitals 12-7 in the third period, the Buffalo hockey team couldn't find the back of the net.
The Capitals lone goal came in the first period as Andre Burakovsky scored on a wrist shot after Jason Chimera found him from behind the net.
The Sabres host the Carolina Hurricanes at First Niagara Center on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
