ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
The City of Lockport will hold a foreclosure auction at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
The annual property auction will attempt to liquidate 45 pieces of property — most with buildings — in an attempt to generate revenue and put the property back on the paying tax rolls. There had been 49 parcels, but four of the property owners have since redeemed their outstanding tax bills.
Winning bidders must put down a 20 percent deposit on the property and pay the difference within 30 days. A 10 percent buyers fee must also be paid to the auctioneer.
Anyone who is currently delinquent on property taxes in the city or has lost a property in a city foreclosure since 1990 may be rejected, as may anyone who in the past three years has defaulted on an agreement with the city to pay off back taxes in installments.
A list of properties for auction is available here as well as in a book available at the city clerk's office. Registration for the auction begins at 5 p.m.
