RAPIDS — The Mud Creek Railroad Summer Invitational is being held from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. today and Sunday at 7349 Tonawanda Creek Road.
The Mud Creek Railroad is a non-profit, educational 7 1/4-inch gauge & 4 3/4-inch gauge model railroad club dedicated to providing a track for the skilled craftspeople that bring history to life through the construction and operation of hand built locomotives and rolling stock modeled after prototype railroads.
It currently boasts a 1000-foot circumference loop and enormous potential for expansion with 20,000 feet of rail ready to be installed.
Their annual Summer Invitational opens the track up to the public to ride the trains for $10 per day. The extensive train ride goes over bridges and under tunnels on the 27-acre site.
