ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Joe Mahley, fan favorite from the 2013 Sweet Chalk Festival, had to start his work from scratch this morning after vandals defaced his art overnight.
Most of the chalk art on Canal Street survived the rain but Mahley's work couldn't stand up to the purposeful destruction done by someone who drew on his work with chalk.
Rather than attempt to fix the original work, Mahley went over his entire drawing with black chalk and started from scratch.
The Sweet Chalk Festival is a two-day event organized by Ellen Martin, owner of Sweet Rides. The artwork is drawn from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
