A 39-year-old woman was charged Monday with embezzling over $2,000 from the South Lockport Fire Co.
New York State Police Lockport arrested Jackie L. Briggs and charged her with fourth-degree grand larceny, a Class E Felony after a two-month investigation revealed Briggs received at least six checks, dated back to 2011 made payable to her from the fire hall's auction fund, that were not part of legitimate transactions. Briggs admitted to forging signatures on four checks and using the funds for her personal benefit, according to state police.
She was arrested and processed at SP Lockport and issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Lockport court on July 10.
