Nancy M. Baldwin
LOCKPORT — Nancy M. Baldwin, age 83, of Lockport NY, died on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Buffalo General Hospital. She was born Nancy Marie Shaver in Lockport on July 9, 1930, the daughter of Louise Raymond Shaver and Raymond F. Shaver. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy and worked in several downtown Lockport retail stores and as a counselor at an area home for children in need of supervision. She also worked for a time at Harrison Radiator Division of GM after the death of her first husband Lorenz J. “Arnie” Arnold in 1969. An avid hunter and golfer, Arnie was an electrician at Harrison Radiator and ran an electrical repair business from his home.

Mrs. Baldwin was married for over 30 years to her late husband, John Baldwin. Born in England, he became a U.S. citizen when he emigrated for a position with Bell Aerospace. Subsequently, he was professor of computer education at Niagara County Community College, in Sanborn NY. A model train enthusiast, he belonged to a number of related organizations and was a member of MENSA. He died in 2000.

Mrs. Baldwin is survived by two children, Richard Arnold, of Rochester NY and Kathy Ann Gagliardi (nee Arnold) of Lockport. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Gagliardi, Christopher Gagliardi and Sarah (Matt) Maloney and one great-grandchild, all of Lockport.

Mrs. Baldwin was especially committed to helping young women who were victims of domestic abuse and gave selflessly to people who were homeless. She loved music of all types and was especially fond of the big band sound and show music.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, July 3 between 10 and 11 AM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport NY, where a memorial service will be held at 11 AM. Burial will be private.  Flowers are gratefully declined. In support of Mrs. Baldwin’s charitable interests, memorials may be made to the domestic violence prevention program at the YWCA of Niagara, 32 Cottage Street, Lockport NY or Lockport Cares, an emergency homeless shelter, 192 Genesee Street, Lockport NY.  Visit www.pruddenandkandt.com to leave an online condolence.
