ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
It's "Cash Mob Day" at the Lockport Community Market and downtown Lockport. Residents and tourists alike are invited to spend $20 at the market and at local downtown businesses to help put money back into the local economy.
The "Cash Mob" follows previous such efforts by local business woman Ellen Martin to get people to spend locally.
"The idea of a Cash Mob is not original. The idea of a Cash Mob in Lockport is not original. But good ideas are worth repeating," Martin said in January, just prior to a similar event. Apparently, they're worth repeating again.
Consumers have a seemingly ever-growing number of vendors at which to spend that $20, too. New vendors for the week include:
Other highlights at today's Community Market include free yoga from 7 to 8 p.m., local singer/songwriter Dale Campbell from 9-10:30 a.m., magic by Alibus Magicae from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., a free hands-on percussion workshop from 10-11:30 a.m., local musician Jeff Krull from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., "Sweet Art Alive" from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and an educational program by A.W.A.R.E. from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
The market runs from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through September. For a full list of vendors and activities, visit lockportcommunitymarket.com.
