ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A Lockport man was charged Tuesday night with stealing a pair of sneakers from Walmart.
According to the report, Jerry R. Flament, 31, 80 Charlotte St., left Walmart Tuesday evening while wearing a pair of sneakers he had tried on there but hadn't paid for.
Flament told patrol that he forgot that he had the sneakers on and accidentally left wearing them. He further stated that he later went back to the store with the sneakers in a box and returned them to a shelf.
Walmart security told patrol that she reviewed video tape showing Flament enter the store at 5:12 p.m. and go to the shoe department. She said he took his shoes off and hid them under a shelf, then put the new sneakers on and left the store. Security did confirm to patrol that Flament was seen leaving the store a second time with different sneakers on than the ones he is accused of stealing, but the report says nothing about him having been seen returning the shoes he had earlier left wearing.
Flament was charged with petit larceny and was to appear in Town of Lockport Court on Thursday.
